The Day I Stopped Following Kristina Horner on Twitter
:l So you know BEDA? Blog Every Day April? My favorite of the 5 awesome girls on youtube is hands-down Kristina. She’s interesting, she’s funny, she’s cool, and she is participating in BEDA. I read her blog today about how much better it is to birth a child at home with a midwife, rather than in a hospital with corrupt doctors that just want to go home, and let’s just say that she really hit a nerve with me. Here’s the link: http://www.italktosnakes.blogspot.com/ Childbirth at home is foolish. Period. If your baby is stuck in the birth canal and is SUFFOCATING and you need to have a C-section in order to get it out so it can BREATHE and you are at home with a midwife? YOU WILL NOT HAVE A BABY. Hospitals provide sterile environments and in case something goes wrong, which it often does with such a risky thing as childbirth, then they have the tools of the trade to fix it. If you are at home and you lose too much blood and need a transfusion before you go brain dead? You are not going to live. Either that or you are going to become a vegetable, but both options seem pretty unenjoyable if you ask me. Home childbirths are unnecessarily risky and while half of doctors are corrupt, the other half are not. Sure it might work out all well and smooth, but why take that kind of risk? Doctors are trained in keeping humans alive and they know what they are doing. They have dedicated their lives to this. Do you really think that all they want to do is to go home in their million dollar mansion and that’s it? No. Not all hospitals and doctors are corrupt. They make mistakes, just like midwives do, because they are humans. Sometimes it’s not necessary to have a C-section and maybe it was a bad call but what if they had gone against what they thought might possibly be a need for a C-section and it turns out that you did in fact need one? DEAD BABY, THAT’S WHAT. Risks should not be taken lightly with something as important as birthing a human baby. It needs to be done in as safe an environment as possible and that my friends, is not at home in your living room. I know that I should respect Kristina’s opinion on the matter, but now whenever I read her Twitter posts or watch her videos I start calling her names like “ignoramus” in my head. I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy what she has to say anymore. I have no respect for people that are anti-hospital, I honestly just don’t.
