I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR SO LONG. I am very proud indeed to finally have realized what the difference between the first two Harry Potter movies and the last three. There is just something different about the feel of the last three and I have finally put my finger on it!
The difference is that as the movies go on, the world they create gets too similar to our own. What I liked about the first two movies is that they created this amazingly different world that was seperate in every single way possible. It was like a whole ‘nother planet.
But it seems like the farther down the line the movies go, the more “wizarding world” they leave behind. When I watch the 5th movie I completely forget that they are in a school to learn spells and potions and the only reminder is when they actually go to class and do magic; which they don’t do very often anymore.
Now I’m not an expert filmmaker so I really don’t know how they can put the true feel of a whole ‘nother world back into Harry Potter but it would be nice if someone tried. The movies just have a feel of being similar to regular life that it’s just not the same. I find comfort in imagination and the later movies are sorely lacking in such things.
